HPU-120 & HPS-120 Install Guide

The below guide is for users who have purchased our HPU-120 Kit or wish to use several HPS-120 HandyWave RS232 radio modems communicating to a single USB unit. This guide is for Windows 2000, XP & XP SP2 Users. Currently we have no Linux support for the range of HandyWave products.

MSPP Installation
Your included CD with the HPU-120 kit contains several manuals and also the BlueSoleil MSPP application.  If this CD was not included, you can download the latest version from our downloads section located here.

Run the installation software by clicking the Setup.exe application. The software will now attempt to install the correct drivers and connection manager software. This process can take up to ten minutes depending on your computer specification.

During the installation you will be presented with a hardware installation warning message similar to the below image.  Click “Continue Anyway” as the drivers are fully compatible with Microsoft Windows based operating systems.  This message may appear several times, you will be prompted to click the “Continue Anyway” button several times, this is normal.

Driver Installation Warning

Once the software installation has been completed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Save all open documents and restart your computer.

HPS-120 Setup
We supply all HPS-120 RS232 radio modems with the default factory installation.  We need to change three settings on these devices to allow communication between the HPU-120 and HPS-120.

Step 1: Connect a HPS to a COM port of PC and open a HyperTerminal. And switch (Power) on
the HPS.
Step 2: Start the setup mode of HPS with pushing the RST button on the HPS.
Step 3: Hit the <Enter> and verify the current settings of HPS.
Step 4: Input a command ‘M’ and select ‘2’, “REGISTER & CONNECT” mode.
Step 5: Input a command ‘A’ and type the address of MSPP.
Step 6: Input a command ‘C’ and select a desired serial service of MSPP. Each HPS has to
have a unique number for this step. For an example, the MSPP has COM ports from 3 to 16.
And you have enabled all of Serial Ports in the MSPP. If you select “1st” in this step, this HPS
will use COM 3 on the MSPP whenever it connects to the MSPP. If you select “3rd”, it will use
COM 5 on the MSPP. And so on.
Step 7: Input a command ‘V’ and verify the settings.
Step 8: Input a command ‘X’ to apply the changes and reboot.

Windows XP SP2 Installation Error
Recently it has come to our attention that certain versions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 have compatibility issues with the BlueSoeil MSPP software.  Currently we have a fix available which can be downloaded here.  This fix includes an install guide on how to replace the drivers.  If you continue to have a problem, please contact our technical support.
