What are the factory defaults?
All of our kits and modules are configured at 9600BPS, 8 Bits
Parity, No flow control, 1 Stop bit.
I have a 25pin RS232 connector, will the HandyPort work?
Yes, as long as its a 25pin serial port and not a parallel port.
A suitable adapter is available in our accessories section.
My serial device only uses three pins, send, receive, ground,
will the HandyPort work?
Yes, the HandyPort will work with three wire RS232 serial devices.
My serial device only uses two pins, transmit and ground, will the HandyPort work?
In most cases yes, make sure you have a RS232 signal and not an
RS485 or RS422 signal. Two wire serial devices are designed
only to send or receive data. These would include LED signs
(support receiving data) and Digital Multi Meters (support sending
data).
My device uses seven data bits, how can I setup the HandyPort for
this?
Yes, although there is not a direct setting in the menu system, you
can configure the device with the below settings.
