How many units do I need to replace my serial cable?
You will require two HPS-120 units to replace a single RS232
serial cable. Our kits include two HPS-120 units and
additional hardware to form this link, you will not need anything
else.
If I have more than one pair, will they interfere with each other?
No, we have installations with 50 or more units working in a small
room without any problems. Each HandyPort unit is designed to
talk to its partner, it will not communicate to any other device
close by.
What type of interference will effect these units?
Microwaves are the only devices to interfear with the HandyPort
signal. However, with the built in error correction, your
units will not transfer bad data and attempt to re-transmit the
signal if there is a problem. Electric motors, computers and other
radio devices do not effect the HandyPort.
How far can the HandyPort transmit?
This depends on what type of antenna that you use. Our of the
box, our kits can transmit up to 500 meters, the extended
directional antennas will boost this range to 1200m. It is
possible to use larger antenna's to increase the range.
